Welcome to Our Website!!
Welcome to the
Home page of SquareOne Technologies, LLC.
We are a small but
growing information technology company located in
King of Prussia,
Pennsylvania.
The core of our services is the
set-up, repair and maintenance of
residential and small office
computers and networks. We also
offer custom built desktops and
consultation services on Internet
connectivity and website setup and
design. Most important,
however, is our operating philosophy--
regardless of whether you are a
home user or a small business owner,
you are not "just a customer"-- you are
a
Client!
We encourage you to take some time
and look over our site to get a
better feel for who we are and what we
do. You will find a lot of useful
and interesting information.
And please visit our Testimonial page to
see what our Clients
have to say about SquareOne!
We want to be your personal I.T.
Department!
Can't afford your
own IT staff? Don't want "cousin Louie" working on
your precious
equipment? No problem. SquareOne fills the niche
between
expensive, enterprise level tech support and the free--but
untrained--enthusiast you just happen to know. Whether you just need
to speed up a slow computer, a simple upgrade, or an entire network
installed at your home or office, you want (and need) a professional--
but one that is affordable.

The Five Common
Reasons for a Slow Computer
| |
#1 Not Enough
Installed Memory
| |
Most
computers are sold with the minimum RAM (random access
memory) they need to operate. Over time, as applications are installed, the need for RAM
increases. If an upgrade is not performed, Windows will
begin to use “virtual” (IE. “fake”) memory. Virtual
memory is bad and will begin to slow down your
computer.
|
|
|
#2 Too Many
Start-Up Applications Running
| |
Some of the
applications you install will configure themselves to
start up along with Windows when you turn on your computer. Having too many of these applications
opening will chew up your RAM and force Windows to begin
using more virtual memory. Remember: Virtual memory is BAD.
|
|
|
#3 Bad or
Corrupted Registry Entries
| |
Think of the
windows registry as a city phone book. Over time,
this registry fills up with useless or even incorrect information. Its like using a phone book that is
10 years out of date. This can cause Windows error
messages, slow performance or even the dreaded B.S.O.D. (Blue Screen of Death). The registry is
very sensitive and should only be edited by a trained
technician.
|
|
|
#4 Spyware, Adware
and Viruses
| |
Almost every
computer, to some degree, is infected with (what some would
consider) "malware", or malicious software.
Some are harmless, while others can cause your
computer to be completely useless. Toolbars and screen savers, along with file sharing, are notorious
avenues for getting malware on your PC.
|
|
|
#5 A Highly
Fragmented Hard Drive
| |
A hard drive
stores all your vital information and data. Over
time, as the drive fills with photos and documents, these files can become fragmented— laying in pieces
over the drive. This causes windows to waste time as
it picks up those scattered pieces and assembles
them. Defragmentation puts those pieces back together
again.
